Overview of the day


‘The ebd approach is about using experience to gain insights from which you can identify opportunities for improvement. It’s about experiences not attitudes or opinions.’Using experience to design better healthcare is unique in the way that it focuses so strongly on capturing and understanding patients', carers' and staff experiences of services; not just their views of the process like the speed and efficiency at which they travel through the system. Instead, this approach deliberately draws out the subjective, personal feelings a patient and carer experiences at crucial points in the care pathway.

On the AFN EBD day we will cover ‘Understanding the ebd approach’, which will include how to capture and understand the experience, improve and then measure that improvement. We will then learn how to use EBD to redesign services and finally how to use the tools that have been developed.

Who should attend?


The course is aimed at staff who will capture and go onto improve the patient experience within the Acute Frailty units. It is essential that the project leads from each of the sites attend.
